Since its launch in 2014, the app game Neko Atsume has gotten countless people obsessing over the art of attracting and collecting cats in an imaginary front yard. In 2017, the popular game inspired the live-action film Neko Atsume House!

Ito Atsushi (Flying Colors) stars as Sakumoto Masaru, a novelist struggling with writer's block. He moves to a house in the countryside in hopes of concentrating on writing, but finds himself both distracted and inspired by the cats that pop up around his home. Curious about the kitties, he begins to leave out food and toys in the yard. More and more cats show up and make home, and soon Masaru's life is revolving around the cats he's collected. Directed by Kurakata Masatoshi, Neko Atsume House co-stars Kutsuna Shiori (While the Women Are Sleeping), Kimura Tae (Wilderness), Taguchi Tomorowo (Phone Call to the Bar) and many, many cats.

Launched in 2014, Neko Atsume, the smartphone game about collecting kitties in your yard, turned into a global sensation. The strangely satisfying zen of attracting and accumulating adorable cats has now inspired a warm and comedic live-action drama. Struggling novelist Sakumoto Masaur moves to a countryside home in hopes of getting over his creative slump. Unexpectedly, cats show up at his home to disrupt him. Drawn to the visitors, he leaves toys and food outside, and soon more and more cats gather in his years.
