지난 해 두번의 앨범 ‘다섯 번째 계절 (SSFWL)', 'BUNGEE (Fall In Love)' 발매 이후 약 8개월 만에 새롭게 선보이는 앨범인 만큼, 오마이걸의 새로운 음악과 무대를 기다려온 글로벌 팬들의 이목이 집중될 전망이다.

타이틀곡 '살짝 설렜어 (Nonstop)’는 리드미컬한 베이스와 에너제틱한 신스 사운드가 절묘히 블렌딩된 업템포 댄스곡으로, '비밀정원', '불꽃놀이 (Remember Me)', '다섯 번째 계절 (SSFWL)', '게릴라 (Guerilla)' 등을 작업한 스티븐리 (Steven Lee) 와 셀린디온, 웨스트라이프등과 작업한 프로듀서 세바스찬토트 (Sebastian Thott), 스웨덴출신 히트곡메이커 안드레아스 요한슨 (Andreas Johansson), 그리고 캐나다 싱어송라이터인 로렐 (Laurell)이 작업하여 곡의 완성도를 높였다. 특히 친구에게 설레어 버린 복잡 미묘한 감정을 보드게임 속 무인도에 빠져버린 상황에 비유하여 “살짝 설렜어”라는 심쿵 가사로 중독적이면서 인상적이게 표현하여 눈길을 끈다.

As much as we may hate survival TV shows, we can't deny that these programs have successfully helped a lot of groups gain a bigger fanbase and wider audience. Thanks to Queendom, another underrated girl group has finally come into the public's view – it's Oh My Girl's time to shine! The girls always present great music matched with eye-catching concepts. This time, in their first comeback after Queendom, they turn into board game characters for their seventh mini-album Nonstop!
The English title of lead single "Nonstop" (Track 1) might have you a bit confused about the theme, but it's actually about being "a little fluttered" by a friend and wondering if they will be friend-zoned. Rhythmical, refreshing and cute, the uptempo dance number shows off Oh My Girl's signature adorable and heartwarming vibe along with their sweet vocals. I guess that's why they steal the hearts of so many people – their songs just make you feel good and carefree! Looking back on their past releases, I'm not surprised by the sound of "Nonstop" as the group has so many songs with a similar upbeat and joyful ambience that can easily cheer you up. Dolphin (Track 2) is that one song that I got obsessed with. From the song title to the lyrics to the rhythm, Dolphin reminds me of those catchy, addictive kids songs whenever I listen to it. Hyo Jung, Ji Ho and Binnie's velvety voices give this extraordinarily lovely song a tinge of childishness. Next, the playlist suddenly jumps into a tranquil ambience with the jazz-based ballad melody of "Flower Tea" (Track 3). All seven members, each with a recognizable tone, showcase their own vocal qualities in the calming and soothing piece. Seung Hee and Yoo A express melancholy beautifully through their voices. Beginning with some retro beats, the pop blues NE♡N (Track 4) carries lyrics about hinting at someone that you have a crush on – "I turned on the neon sign for you. It's in front of the pink heart, come closer!" Sentimental mid-tempo pop ballad Krystal (Track 5) reminisces about precious and beautiful past memories: "Someday, I will take this out again when the sad night comes / That day that was like krystal to me / Sad, sad but bright one day." Honestly, I was quite surprised that Oh My Girl didn't go for their "Secret Garden" and "The Fifth Season" style for this album, but the girls never disappoint with their bright and cheery sounds. Nonstop is just right if you're looking for something to relieve stress and put the brightest smile on your face. |
