In Taiwan, Open-chan is best known as the local mascot of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain. The popular cartoon character adds film actor to the resume with his own feature film Open! Open! Like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Space Jam, Open! Open! features a mix of animation and live-action. Actress Chien Man Shu (When a Wolf Falls in Love with a Sheep) makes her feature film directorial debut as the co-writer and co-director of the film. She also stars as the young heroine who takes in Open-chan and his friends after they arrive on earth from the planet Open. Becoming good friends, Open-chan helps her find love in the big city with his magical powers.
