A single mother becomes a railway driver in the moving drama Our Departures directed by Yoshida Yasuhiro (Birthday Card). Life changes completely for Akira (Arimura Kasumi) when her husband Shuhei (Aoki Munetaka) suddenly passes away, leaving a nine-year-old stepson in her care. She goes to Shuhei's hometown of Kagoshima and moves in with his estranged father (Kunimura Jun), who is a railway driver. Starting anew in this new town and family of three, Akira decides to aim to become a railway driver, which was also Shuhei's childhood dream.
