NEWS member Kato Shigeaki's 2012 debut novel Pink and Gray arrives on the silver screen with an adaptation helmed by acclaimed director Yukisada Isao (Crying Out Love In The Center Of The World). Set in the showbiz world, Pink and Gray, which Kato has said contains semi-autobiographical details, is about childhood buddies whose friendship begins to change and devolve after they enter the entertainment industry. Kato's labelmate Nakajima Yuto of Hey! Say! JUMP makes his film debut in the leading role alongside Suda Masaki (Daily Lives of High School Boys), Kaho (Tokyo Girl), Kishii Yukino (At the Last Stop Called Ghost Chimney) and Yagira Yuya (Unforgiven). More than an idol movie, Pink and Gray offers interesting character studies told through a clever narrative framework that turns the story on its head.

Popular actor Shiraki Rengo (Nakajima Yuko) suddenly takes his own life one day, leaving behind six notes. His longtime friend Kawata Daiki (Suda Masaki), also an actor but far less famous, rushes to Rengo's home, but arrives too late to save him. Exactly what went wrong? Rengo and Daiki were close friends from childhood, but in high school, Rengo got scouted by an agency and soon made the jump to stardom. The jealous Daiki also pursued an entertainment career but to no avail. As time goes on, the ups and downs of the industry begin to take a toll on their friendship, forever changing the boys' relationship.

[ストーリー]
