Japan has gone through its share of tough times in its long history. See how ramen helped one particular town rise up above the ruins of war in director Naoki Segi's Ramen Samurai. Set in the 1960s, the film follows the journey of Hikari (Watanabe Dai), a professional designer who leaves his career in Tokyo after his father's death in order to revive the family ramen stall. Through Hikari's hard work to replicate his father's recipe, we see the hardworking spirit of the Japanese people and the lengths they will go in the name of their dedication to their profession.
