YesAsia Editorial Description

Led by renowned songwriter Kajiura Yuki, Kalafina was first formed in 2007 to sing the theme songs for the animated film series The Garden of Sinners (a.k.a. Kara no Kyokai). Other than Kajiura who composes all the group's songs, Kalafina consists of two members from Kajiura's FictionJunction solo project, Ootaki Wakana and Kubota Keiko, plus two additional vocalists, Hikaru and Maya, who were discovered through audition. Thanks to the The Garden of Sinners connection, Kalafina has also been steadily gaining popularity, with all of their singles breaking into the Oricon top ten charts. The group's first studio album Seventh Heaven contains 14-tracks including all of their previous The Garden of Sinner singles - oblivious, sprinter, ARIA, fairytale - as well as brand new tracks. Title song seventh heaven is the theme song for the seventh and final chapter of The Garden of Sinners. Kalafina's new single Lacrimosa, which hits shelves the same day as Seventh Heaven, is not included in this album.

Gorgeous Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
If you like works by See-Saw and FictionJunction formed by Yuki Kajiura or even if you like listening to Celtic Women, you will LOVE this trio. This trio is actually formed by Yuki Kajiura with 2 vocalist from her FictionJunction group. ^_^

The first song I ever heard by this group was 'oblivious' and I was blown away by the vocals and the fact that it was japanese. I was listening to it thinking it was another celtic song until I released I could understand what they were saying, lol.

This album is gorgeous, some of my favorite tracks are:

Track 5 'fairytale' <-- TRULY gorgeous singing with a soft background that shows off the pure vocals,
Track 11 'Ashita no Keshiki' (Scene of Tommorow) <-- sounds like a music box,
Track 12 'sprinter' <-- has a rock feel, but it somehow suits them perfectly
Track 13 'Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Iku' (Turn into Light) <-- a slow ballad song with a lot of cello and piano work
Track 14 'seventh heaven' <-- the last track on the album truly makes the perfect ending. It really completes the meaning behind the album and really brings the album's name to the forfront of the mind. It has a feel of riding on the wind and makes nice use of string intruments. The trio tends to take turns singing instead of blending their voices as much like in the other songs.

Overall, I truly recommend this album.

When I heard their first song "Oblivious" from the anime Kara No Kyoukai (空の境界) I just adore them! I like them because they're perfectly suited to the anime because their style is melancholic but energetic at the same time! They express perfectly the style of Japanese music and they are great, I order to everyone to buy their CD!WWW KALAFINA! Bought it Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
And it's totally worth the buy. I am usually not into singers/bands that dedicate their music career to animes, even if they can really sing. However, Kalafina's career is going to be quite long. The genre of this album is pop, rock, and vocal.

The live footage made me admire the Kalafina members more. Their live performance is fantastic! They can really sing live unlike many singers. Here are the tracks of the DVD.

01. Oblivious [Live]
02. 君が光に変えて行く [Live]
03. 傷跡 [Live]
04. ARIA [Live]
05. sprinter [Video clip]
06. fairy tale [Video clip]
07. Seventh Heaven [Video clip]

Highly recommend.

Planning to buy Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I have listened to the entire CD already and I am in love with Kalafina's musical style. Their music reminds me of a stage production, you know, the sort of music that stage plays would use. "Seventh Heaven" would be the soundtrack for the show. All of the members have the most enchanting voice and I love every single song.

However, I am not sure which edition to purchase. If someone had purchase the CD+DVD, can you tell me what's included in the DVD? What sort of live footage? I wish YesAsia provided more information on the DVD because the CD definitely is one of the best of the year.
