YesAsia Editorial Description
Tai Chi II was one of the final films from renowned action director Yuen Woo Ping before he made his move to Hollywood to choreograph the action sequences for the blockbuster film The Matrix. A sequel in name only to the hit Jet Li film The Tai Chi Master (also directed by Yuen Woo Ping), the film stars future martial arts superstar Jacky Wu Jing as a young man shielded from the world by his overprotective father. Once he gets out, he's able to find romance with Western-educated Rose (sexy Christy Chung), as well as do battle with evil opium smugglers, and "The Great Kick of the North" (Billy Chow), a roving martial artist who'll challenge anything in sight! However, "The Great Kick" has his work cut out for him: the young man's years of shelter allowed him the opportunity to develop the "Pig Tail Stance", a powerful martial art which - combined with Dad's Tai Chi training - makes him nigh-impossible to defeat in combat! Creatively choreographed action sequences and a large helping of genial Hong Kong comedy make Tai Chi II an entertaining work from a true master of Hong Kong action, Yuen Woo Ping!

Piggy Tail
What an unexpected find as it rings of Jet Li's Once Upon A Time in China trilogy.
A young Wu Jing (which I've just discovered is Jacky cause he rarely uses his christian name) displayed fine forms and agility in his martial arts prowess. The formidable 'piggy tail' stance added extra comedy to the show and is well incorporated to make you wonder if it's really possible. Fight choreography was great from Yuen Woo Ping. Great one. |

Charming and different
This movie is called "Tai Chi Boxer" in the UK and it is a great movie to watch. Wu Jing is shows us that he is a great martial artist and actor, he has both charm and talent. Whilst the story is a bit weak. The action and fight scenes are not. What is also good is the lack of aggression from the main character, he is a gentleman and has humility, yet strong. This is what Tai Chi is about. This movie has humour, romance as well as action. Wu Jing has grace, whilst Jet Li has power and I look forward to seeing more of his movies. |

This movie was exellent in presenting a different style of Tai Chi,
The main actor is an excellent martial artist who is pretty much as good as Jet Li. |
