Critically acclaimed director Toyoda Toshiaki (Kuchu Teien) moves on from his legal trouble and finally returns with his first film in four years with The Blood of Rebirth. Based on the Japanese folklore Oguri Hangan, the film is a mesmerizing journey of a wandering soul traveling the forest to find his way back to the human world. Also featuring an unusual rock score from Toyoda's own band Twin Tail, The Blood of Rebirth is a hypnotic comeback film that proves Toyoda is still at the top of his game in all levels of filmmaking.
Twin Tail drummer Nakamura Tatsuya stars as Oguri, a masseur who is murdered when he refuses to be under his lord for life. Instead of choosing to go to heaven or hell, Oguri instead returns to earth to seek revenge for his death. Meanwhile, Princess Terute (Kusakari Mayu) steals a valuable new possession of the lord and goes on the run to the forest. Oguri, the lord who had him murdered, and Princess Terute all converge in the forest for one last showdown.

闇の世界を司る大王（渋川清彦）の業病を癒すため、同地に招かれた天才按摩（あんま）のオグリ（中村達也）。だが、オグリの健康な体への嫉妬と忠誠を誓わない態度に腹を立てた大王は、オグリを殺してしまう。そんな中、オグリにひそかな思いを寄せるテルテ（草刈麻有）は、彼を現世へ蘇らせるため、地の果てあるという“蘇生の湯”を目指すが……。
