Huang Xiaoming leads The Bravest team of firefighters in a blockbuster disaster drama based on the Xingang Port oil spill incident of 2010. Directed by Tony Chan and produced by Andrew Lau, the thrilling and moving film unfolds the perilous situation that arises when an oil pipeline suddenly explodes at a dock in a coastal city. While citizens flee, firefighters rush to the scene to control the raging fire that may spread to other oil storage tanks. As the fire escalates and explosions occur, an even more terrifying threat emerges: if the fire spreads to a nearby hazardous chemical storage area, the lives of millions would be at risk. To save the city, captain Jiang Liwei (Huang Xiaoming) must go into the heart of the fire to manually close the valves of a leaking oil tank.

The Bravest co-stars Tan Zhuo (Dying to Survive) as Jiang's wife, Du Jiang as a fire captain, and Zhang Zhehan, Gu Jiacheng, Yin Xiaotian and Gao Ge as the firefighters in Jiang's company. Yang Zi and Oho Ou make special appearances as a frontline fire inspector and firefighter with key roles in the emergency operation, while Hou Yong plays the fire chief.

[ストーリー]
リーウェイは最年少で消防隊・隊長となり、勇気あるリーダーシップで数々の栄誉に輝いてきた。今日もレストランの火事を持ち前のリーダーシップと能力で消し終えた彼は、経験を積ませるために現場検証を若手の消防士に任せて、その現場を離れる。しかし、経験の浅いその消防士は、現場に残されたガス爆発の兆候に対応できず、爆発により死んでしまう。リーウェイは、この失敗により地位をはく奪された上、更に除隊を迫られ、失意の日々を過ごすことになる。そんなある日、世界でも最大規模の石油コンビナートで火災が発生、家族と共に休日を過ごしていたリーウェイは、火事の連絡を受け、現場に向かう。火事は化学物質の都市部への拡散の危機も招いており、もし、それに引火したら、８００万もの人間が即、焼死するという人類が体験したことのない災害となる。この恐ろしい状況でリーウェイは究極の選択を迫られる…
