YesAsia Editorial Description

TVB 2004 drama The Driving Power teams up veteran TV actor Adam Cheng and film star Cecilia Yip who seldom appears in TV dramas, plus younger generation actors Joyce Tang, Michelle Ye, and Kenneth Ma. Set in the 1960s, a period which so many Hong Kong people are nostalgic about, the drama showcases splendid vintage fashion and pictures people's livelihood in 1960s Hong Kong. A touching drama mixed with hilarious scenarios, The Driving Power offers great entertainment to all, whether one is familiar with the 1960s Hong Kong or not.

Adam Cheng plays Mui, a womanizer born to an influential triad family who has relied on his father for a living in the past few decades. Recently he takes over his uncle's nightclub, taking advantage of the chance to flirt with dancer Lisa (Angela Tong) and even date a female doctor (Joyce Tang). His wife (Cecilia Yip) sends her brother (Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung) to watch Mui but it is of little use. On the other hand, Mui's daughter Pearl (Michelle Ye) falls in love with Willie (Kenneth Ma), a fraud who disguises himself as an up-and-coming young man. Before Mui can expose Willie's plot, he gets framed and deprived of everything he has. How can Mui fight against Willie in such difficult situation?
