Goliath story, about a young defiant town leader who refuses to bow down to the powerful Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Recalling some of the greatest period epics in Japanese cinema history, The Floating Castle has an equal balance of exciting visual spectacle, inspiring heroics, intriguing drama and over-the-top humor (courtesy of Nomura Mansai as the town's foolish, but brilliant young leader). Through his vicious war campaign, Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Ichimura Masachika) is nearly successful at uniting Japan. One of his final opponents is the Hojo Clan, which includes the Oshi Castle, ruled by Nagashika Narita (Nomura Mansai). Even though Nagashika often shows that he doesn't care for politics and prefers to spend his days with the local peasants, he decides to defy his allies' advice to surrender the castle to Toyotomi. With the help of trusted warriors Tanba (Sato Koichi), Izumi (Yamaguchi Tomomitsu) and Sakamaki (Narimiya Hiroki), Nagashika unites the town to take the invading army. While it appears to be a losing battle even before it begins, the town's new leader has a few tricks up his sleeves.

First Press Edition includes audio commentary, making of, deleted scenes, video storyboard, the full version of the harvest dance, visual effects featurette and trailers. It comes with a booklet, a map of the Oshi Castle and the complete script.
