Returning to the screen after three years away, Lee Mi Yeon (Empress Myung Sung) stars as the eponymous heroine of the 2010 KBS period drama The Great Merchant (a.k.a. Merchant Kim Man Deok). The series follows Man Deok from a tough youth constrained by her Jeju roots and low class status, to her storied rise above the hardships to become the most successful female merchant of the Joseon era. Other than Lee Mi Yeon, the historical biopic boasts an esteemed cast that includes Han Jae Suk (Lobbyist), Ha Suk Jin (Hello! Miss), Park Sol Mi (Golden Apple), Ko Doo Shim, Kim Gab Soo, and child actress Shim Eun Kyung who plays the young Man Deok.
