Set in the hectic world of variety show production, the workplace romance series reunites Kim Soo Hyun with You Who Came From the Stars screenwriter Park Ji Eun. Filled with cheeky industry references and hilarious banalities, the show takes audiences behind the scenes to the making of Korea's top music and variety shows – and all the brainstorm sessions, unexpected obstacles, office politics and catty spats that come with the package. Besides Kim Soo Hyun, Cha Tae Hyun and Kong Hyo Jin as variety program producers and IU as a singer, The Producers also co-stars Running Man's Kim Jong Kook, Ye Ji Won and Park Hyuk Kwon (Six Flying Dragons), and features a score of celebrity cameos and special appearances.

Smart and meticulous but a bit socially tone-deaf, rookie TV producer Baek Seung Chan (Kim Soo Hyun) has just started working at the KBS variety program division, but on the very first day, he's already managed to upset Music Bank producer Tak Ye Jin (Kong Hyo Jin) whose tense backstage confrontation with aloof pop idol Cindy (IU) over her stage costume culminates in a broadcast incident. Meanwhile, harried producer Ra Joon Mo (Cha Tae Hyun) has been summoned yet again by the government censorship board and he hears rumors that his struggling reality program 2 Days & 1 Night (which Cha is a cast member on in real life) may be getting pulled. Professional and romantic wires will cross when Ye Jin moves in with longtime friend Joon Mo, Seung Chan joins Joon Mo's team and Cindy gets cast for 2 Days & 1 Night!

Seung-chan (Kim Soo-Hyun) decided to work at the entertainment division of KBS television network because of his secret crucsh on a KBS employee. On his first day on the job, Seung-Chan goes through training but has a difficult time with PD Ye-Jin (Kong Hyo-Jin). Ye-Jin is th producer of music program “Music Bank.”

Seung-chan is then devastated when he sees his secret crush and PD Joon-Mo (Cha Tae-Hyun) being affectionate towards each other. Joon-Mo is the producer of variety show “2 Days & 1 Night” and he is a long time friend of PD Ye-Jin.
