YesAsia Editorial Description

Wong Fei Hung is undoubtedly a familiar name to martial arts film fans, as the life and times of the Foshan folk hero has been dramatized countless times on the big screen. Over the years, Wong Fei Hung has been embodied by legendary actor Kwan Tak Hing, Gordon Liu in Challenge of the Masters, Jackie Chan in Drunken Master, and Jet Li in Once Upon a Time in China, just to name a few. On television, he has also been portrayed by different generations of actors including Shek Kin, Leung Ka Yan, Vincent Zhao, Bosco Wong, and teenage martial arts star Shih Hsiao Lung. Shih captures the reckless youth of Wong Fei Hung in the 2002 Mainland drama The Young Wong Fei Hung.

As a teenager, Wong Fei Hung (Shih Hsiao Lung) is known throughout Guangzhou for his martial arts prowess - and his mischief. His troublemaking abilities are matched only by his mother (Lu Liping), bringing a great many headaches for respected father Wong Kei Ying (Wang Kuaichun). Fei Hung is forced to face the trials of adulthood, however, when his mother passes away in a suspicious fire, and calamity befalls the Wong family. A mix of high-kicking action and youth comedy, The Young Wong Fei Hung is directed by Lu Lun Chang, the man behind popular TVB dramas like Journey to the West and The Edge of Righteousness. The cast is composed of fresh young actors of comparable age to Shih, with newcomer Hao Lei playing Fei Hung's love interest, Thirteenth Aunt.

Best version of a Wong Fei Hong Series that I've w Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I think that this series is very light-hearted compared to many of the other versions I've watched, and has many funny moments. I also like Shih Hsiao Lung as the main character best. I think he matches the part perfectly! The fighting scenes were well done, and were really exciting. If you were going to watch a version of Wong Fei Hong, you should watch this one by far.
