Three Husbands won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. Leading actress Chloe Maayan also won Best Actress at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards for her brave performance as a young woman who gets pimped out from a fishing boat by her "three husbands."

Big Brother (Mak Keung), who constantly travels between Hong Kong and mainland China, marries off Mui (Chloe Maayan) to Hong Kong fisherman Second Brother (Chan Man Lei). Born with an insatiable sex drive, the near-mute Mui needs to constantly have sex to keep her condition at bay, so her two husbands run a brothel from a fishing boat. Among Mui's regulars is construction worker Four Eyes (Chan Charm Man), who falls in love with her and eagerly takes up the position of husband no. 3. Mui's life takes a turn after the addition of another husband.

Even though this modern city returned to China more than 20years ago, an entry permit is strictly required to cross the border between Hong Kong and other cities in China. BIG BROTHER is one of those poor types that regularly enters and leaves Hong Kong fisherman, SECOND BROTHER. Mui suffers from a medical disorder that will drive her to madness if she doesn't have sex all the time. Making the best of a bad situation, the two men pimp her out. In the loneliness of the fishermen's bay, only sex brings Mui joy. And the money helps support her family. LITTLE BRO makes his living around the bay.
