The live-action adaptation of Ishida Sui's best-selling dark fantasy manga Tokyo Ghoul returns with a sequel! Co-directed by Kawasaki Takuya and Hiramaki Kazuhiko, Tokyo Ghoul S is again set in a Tokyo in which ghouls that subsist on human flesh secretly live amongst humans. Star Kubota Masataka returns as hero Kaneki Ken who turned into a half-ghoul in the first film, and got drawn into the conflicts between the human and ghoul worlds. Matsuda Shota (Initiation Love) joins the sequel as antagonist Tsukiyama Shu, a powerful "gourmet" ghoul who develops an abnormal attachment to Kaneki. Will Ken be able to win against Tsukiyama's magical hand?

Tokyo Ghoul S co-stars Yamamoto Maika (Sunny: Our Hearts Beat Together), who takes over the role of heroine Kirishima Toka previously played by Shimizu Fumika. Model Maggy makes her film debut as a popular model whose beautiful odd eye draws the notice of Tsukiyama. Other new cast members include Kang Ji Young (Assassination Classroom), Mori Nana (Mr. Hiiragi's Homeroom) and Kiryu Mai (Lying to Mom). Shiraishi Shunya, Sakurada Hiyori, Suzuki Nobuyuki, Ogasawara Kai, Murai Kunio, Yanagi Shuntaro and Bando Minosuke also all reprise their roles from the 2017 film.
