YesAsia Editorial Description

The superstar comedy stylings of Stephen Chow get a mega-workout in Tricky Brains, an early blockbuster hit starring Stephen Chow and Andy Lau! Stephen Chow is Jing Koo, the self-styled "Handsome Tricky Expert", who will gladly screw with you if it means a paycheck for himself. The payee is Macky (Waise Lee), who wants the handsome Kit (Andy Lau) out of the way so he can be made manager of the company. Jing Koo takes the job, and starts his con by fooling Kit's father (frequent Stephen Chow collaborator Richard Ng Man Tat) into thinking that he is, in fact, the long-lost half brother of Kit. Both Kit and his dad buy into Jing Koo's tricks, but their kindness is rough on the avowed trickster. Will he regret tricking Kit and his father? And will the office be reduced to a shambles once the "Handsome Tricky Expert" is done with them?

Tricky Brains demonstrates Stephen Chow's snarky comic persona at its absolute best, meaning the master comedian spends all his time imposing his superiority over the less quick-witted folks around him. Jing Koo runs virtual rings around all his victims, which include sexy Chingmy Yau, and Rosamund Kwan as Kit's nominal love interest. Like other films directed by Wong Jing, Tricky Brains is a wacky joke-a-minute laffer full of movie parodies, sudden musical numbers, and enough silliness to fill ten other films. And like other Stephen Chow movies, Tricky Brains is one incredibly funny movie!

Product Information

This is one of the earliest work of stephen Chow’s slapstick comedies in the early 90’s. It has fully shown his talent of being a comedian and has impressed a large amount of audience even until now. The story tells tat Jing Koo (Stephen Chow), also named as the Ultimate Expert, is hired by Macky Kam (Waise Lee) to get rid of Chi Man-Kit (Andy Lau) in order to be the manager of their company. Later he finds himself being cheated by Kam and shamefully fiees away. At the end he regains his confidence and competes with the “King of Tricks”, and he finally wins.

This movie has successfully helped the rise of slapstick comedies and given the audience a new glance of a talented Stephen Chow, who has later later become the best comedian ever in Hong Kong.

One of Chow's finest Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This must be one of Chow Sing Chi's finest and funniest movie. In Tricky Brains, he plays "Handsome tricky expert Jing Koo" for hire to play tricks on people. He gets hired by some jealous guy to play tricks on Andy Lau, pretending to be his long lost brother and just tricking him non-stop. Andy gets him a job in the office and he plays tricks on other people along the way. It's just some top-notch Stephen Chow funny nonsense. Andy Lau is also very funny in this movie too. It's just cool seeing Chow and Lau in a good movie together. This is classic.

Entertaining Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Another of Stephen Chow's better movies, this one showcases his comedic skills quite well. His antics play off quite well with Andy Lau. The comedy goes over the top in the end, but it's still a very good movie.
