After Unbeatable, Hong Kong cinema takes on mixed martial arts again in We Are Legends. Directed by Daniel Chan (Triad), the hard-swinging sports drama delves into the world of MMA through the gritty training and brawling of two brothers, played by Sing Lam (Weeds on Fire) and Edward Ma (To Love or Not to Love). The story is loosely inspired by real-life Hong Kong MMA fighter Xiong Dixin, who makes a special appearance in the film.

Brothers Jack (Edward Ma) and Bunny (Sing Lam) were taken in at a young age by orphanage janitor Eric (Eric Kot) and grew up in the martial arts gym run by Simo (Yuen Qiu). Bunny looks up to his older brother, who trains and competes hard to work towards going pro in MMA. Bunny, however, is more of a rash street fighter. The two brothers have a falling out over Bunny participating in underground fights to earn money. While Bunny builds a reputation for his brawling skills, Jack accumulates an impressive winning record in the amateur MMA circuit and finally gets the change for his professional debut. However, in his first professional match, the usually proud and cocky Jack gets knocked out within 30 seconds by old nemesis Jason (Jason Li). Infuriated, Bunny decides to challenge Jason in the ring.

Orphaned brothers Jack and Bunny grow up in a martial arts club. Jack supports Bunny’s study but cut ties with him after Bunny is caught for fighting underground and gets kicked out of school.

Bunny goes viral on the internet with videos of how he speedily knocks out his opponent, and is referred to as the King of Street Fights. Jack devotes himself into training and fighting in numerous competitions, setting a record of 49 wins. However, he is defeated at his first professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight while his opponent Jason humiliates his instructor and martial arts club on stage.
