YesAsia Editorial Description

Korea's favorite female quintet Wonder Girls looks to continue their winning streak, aiming once again for the top spot in the music charts with their latest project album The Wonder Years - Trilogy. Whisking their fans back to the '60s and '70s Motown era, the principle track Nobody completes the circle of their retro revival musical journey which began with the mid/late '80s-style pop dance hit Tell Me and their early '80s synth-pop So Hot - both of which topped the charts and started new dance trends. Under the guidance of world-renowned producer Park Jin Young, the group brings a trendy twist to classic tunes, hoping to ignite yet another round of retro fever. Taking inspiration from Motown classics like The Supremes' You Keep Me Hangin' On, Martha & The Vandellas's Dancing in the Streets, The Ronettes' Be My Baby, and The Crystals' Da Doo Ron Ron, Nobody sees the Wonder Girls successfully reviving the era as they deliver a breathtaking performance in the song's music video which is reminiscent of a scene from the 2006 Hollywood musical Dreamgirls.

Tell me-So hot에 이어 Nobody로 이어지는 Retro의 향연

Nobody는 앨범 타이틀 ‘The Wonder Years-Trilogy’ 에서 보여지는 것처럼, Tell me (80년대 중/후반 댄스 POP) - So Hot (80년대 초반 Synth Pop) - Nobody(60-70년대Motown 걸 그룹 사운드)까지 원더걸스가 선보이는 Retro 3부작의 완성판 이라고 할 수 있다.

원더걸스의 4번째 프로젝트 앨범 ‘The Wonder Years-Trilogy’의 타이틀 곡인 ‘Nobody’는 60년대 모타운을 필두로 여성 그룹의 전성기를 이끌었던 Supremes의 'You Keep me hangin' on', Martha & The Vandellas의 'Dancing in the Streets' 뿐 만 아니라 동시대를 풍미했던 여성 그룹인 The Ronettes의 "Be my Baby', The Crystals의 'Da Doo Ron Ron'등 국내/외에서 폭넓게 사랑 받았던 음악에서 볼 수 있었던 쉬운 멜로디와 한 번 들으면 잊혀지지 않는 강한 후렴구 등의 음악적 스타일은 물론, 패션, 안무 등 모든 것에서 이 시기를 완벽하게 현재적으로 해석한 곡이다. 2008년 하반기 Nobody로 대한민국을 사로잡을 원더걸스! 다섯명의 Retro 요정들의 눈부신 활동이 기대된다.

Best of Wonder Girls ♡ Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I personally think The Wonder Years: Trilogy is the best album of Wonder Girls so far.

The Intro showed off Sunye's and Yeeun's vocal talents and... I really don't know what to say... Intro made a perfect beginning for the retro style album.

Nobody was a smash hit everyone knew it is so... not gonna talk much about Nobody. I'm just happy that the girls gained so much popularity with Nobody :)

I Tried was another nice ballad of Wonder Girls, but sadly, in comparison to other ballads just right in the album like Saying I Love You and Nobody (Rainstone Remix ver.), I don't think I Tried really stood out. However it was still a nice track and ou should totally check it out if you're obsessed with Wonder Girls' ballad songs (like me :D)

Saying I Love You was really amazing in my opinion. Praise for Yeeun! Praise her for composing such a beautiful melody and sweet lyrics. Plus, the girls' vocal improvements showed all in this song! It's my perfect winter song, though it never snows in my country :P. But really, every Wonderful should check this song out. The song deserves it :)

Nobody (Rainstone Remix) is definitely my favourite track from the album and it's also my ultimate playback Wonder Girls song. The melody, the beat, the girls' vocals... Everything was so gentle, so soft, fullfilled with hidden feelings. I totally felt the song. It always goes straight into my heart and sometimes even gets me teared up ;___;. I especially love Yubin's rap section and Sunye's ending. The first time I listened to the song was when the girls performed it on Chocolate and really, the performance was amazing. The girls' voices and expressions really impressed me. Seriously, I love Nobody (Rainstone Remix)!

Now about the CD designing and packaging. I love the retro style. (Which Wonderfuls don't?). The girls looked so mature and gorgeous. They're true ladies :x. The folded mini poster was very impressive! Too bad when I bought the CD, posters are sold out in Korea :(. The booklet is amazing and is everything Wonder Girls! The girls looked so chic, feminine and lady-like yet still remain the brightfulness and soft cuteness. The only thing I can say is The Wonder Years: Trilogy is the best Wonder Girls album. In my opinion, even 2 Different Tears wasn't as outstanding as this.

A totally must-have for all Wonderfuls and highly-recommended for all others :)

A classic Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I must say that I bought this album out of pure nostalgia. Listening to it always takes me back to 2008, when I was a newbie to Kpop and I only knew Lee Hyori and these girls. When I got it in the mail today, it had been a long time since I last listened to it. Listening to it reminded me of how much I love it :)

Nobody is a song that I'm sure everyone has heard: it was the Wonder Girl's third smash hit in a row, and it's still populair today. The Rainstone Remix adds something new to it, and it's a great addition to the single. I Tried and Saying I Love are slower, and very sweet (but not cutesy!). I love the lyrics and the girls' vocals.

This single was also their last proper release in Korea (besides 2DT). They have since been MIA to 'prepare' for an American debut. So if you're new to Kpop, don't know the Wonder Girls and want to buy a classic, this is a must buy!

Shows their true vocals Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The album itself: The whole packaging isn't very good as it would tear easily. The photos though are excellent quality, and you would keep looking at the pictures for a long period of time as they have a very nice feeling looking at them. The album comes in a rectangular shape and the pictures are very good compared to other albums that the pictures come very small.

The songs: The 'Intro' is very addicting to listen too as it gives you goosebumps of Sunye and Yeeun's amazing vocals. Nobody is extremely catchy and i don't think i don't need to tell people how addicting it is. 'I Tried' is a very mellow song, but very boring and not memorable to listen too, the chorus doesn't reel you in either. 'Saying I Love' is beautifully composed considering Yeeun is still learning, it may be not be perfect composing but it is very memorable as Sohee's pre-chorus is addicting to sing along too and the chorus itself is very moving and memorable because of Sunye & Yeeun's vocals.

Although, i would have wished a full album as the instrumentals are just there, the albums songs are still excellent. The packaging should have been better but the songs will not disappoint as they are very addicting to sing along too, and also since the instrumentals are there. This mini-album is much better than 'So Hot Mini-Album'

Its pretty good Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I think this CD was kinda worth it. The packaging is not too good..
I got my CD back in December. I opened it a few months back and that was the 2nd time opening it.
Then I recently opened it and the pages were ripping. The placement where the CD was is poor. Its all paper.. I opened it gently too.
Overall, this CD is great! I love the poster that it comes with, and the photobook is beautiful!
