From the makers of Startling by Each Step and Chinese Paladin comes the blockbuster costume fantasy action epic Xuan Yuan Sword. Like the Chinese Paladin series, Xuan Yuan Sword is based on a popular RPG game and stars Chinese Entertainment Shanghai's (Tangren) go-to leading man Hu Ge, who also served as co-producer of the drama. Tangren's top actresses Cecilia Liu Shishi and Tang Yan and rising stars Jiang Jinfu, Lin Gengxin, and Gulnazar co-star, along with a supporting cast that includes Ma Tianyu, Cecilia Yip, Cheng Pei Pei, Eddie Ko, Lawrence Ng, and Michelle Yim. Director Lee Kwok Lap teamed up this time with Hong Kong writer Chan Sap Sam - best known for the My Date with a Vampire series - to create a sprawling fusion adventure series filled with wuxia action, demon duels, fated romance, and magical tools inspired by modern gadgets!

Yuwen Tuo (Hu Ge), prince of the Northern Zhou, and Jing Chou (Jiang Jinfu), prince of the Chen, both lost their families and thrones as children when the Sui Dynasty defeated their kingdoms. Yuwen Tuo would join the Sui, and grow up into a cold and powerful general under the tutelage of his mortal enemy (Ba Sen). Jing Chou grows up into a bumbling, kind-hearted swordsman, who can't live up to his master's expectations. According to ancient legends, there are five mystical artifacts that will appear when the demon world threatens mankind, and he who gathers all five will become ruler of the land. To restore their dynasties, Yuwen Tuo and Jing Chou set out to find the five artifacts, crossing paths along the way with spoiled princess Taba Yu'er (Cecilia Liu), who is also searching for the artifacts.
