Can't even consider this to be a good piece... Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
This is definitely one of YikShu's bad piece in the past 3 years. The story is not even as interesting as "Yen Yang Tien". It was a little boring in the middle... I am so disappointed how she structure the story... I do also agree that she needs to slow down her productivity but concentrate on the quality of each book.

This book reminds me of her another book ;Yen Yan Tian; about a beautiful but poor girl how she struggled to become rich and famous but without the man she loved in her life. I do wish that Yik Shu would slow down her writig and spend more time in creating new stories. I have read well over 200 hundred of her books and do find that a lot of her stories are repetitive. There was a period around 97 she wrote a lot around the feelings of anxities faced by Hong kong people and how their relationships were affected by this and their decision to emigrate to Canada. Then there was a period after 1997 she wrote a lot about mostly Canadian born Chinese women in search of their cultural identities. This is one of the repetitive themes I picked up from those books written around this period and there are many other themes being repetitive depends on which era she is writing from.

Some of her female characters are rather pretentious especially those who are over sea born Chinese with highly educated background whose goal is to save the poor chinese children in some remote parts of China. These are usally women with high ideals who do not need anyone but themselves and if their men cannot share their ambition they will be kicked out. At first this sort of theme migh be refreshing to read about but not after a series of her books with the same endings.

Yes she has written over 200 books so there bound to be a repetition and I will probably continue to be her fan because occasionally there is one meaningful message in her story that will provoke some interesting thoughts about relationship like she did in her early books produced in the 70's and 80's. But it does her no harm to slow down her writing and spend more time in giving her readers a new elements in her books.

I just hope that I do not give up on her before my interestes run out by her repetitions.
