must read
| of course all her readers will know of this book. it is skilfully written and her characters carefully chosen ..... maybe there is a little change in the last part of the story from the original(as suggested by her brother ni guang) on the pregnancy of ms chow - the kind nurse. it is the rising of a power woman left unnoticed. gee, may be drama in this era yet still worth knowing. read for the second time. |

One of the best
| This is my favorite book at all times. It helps to set the tone and the altitude of life in England, where I was when this book first came out. The story is so detail yet she doesn't need to explain it in a very complicated way. The characters are very outstanding and I just can't say enough good things about this book. It's a great, great novel. |

I love this one!!!
| Yeah, I agree with the first person who wrote a review on this book. My favorite of Yi Shu's books are also from her earlier years, such as the Story of Rose, Yun Mo, and He Bo. I wish she write more stories like these, because these are the books that really touches people's heart and will stay with them. |
