The two begin to have strange dreams in which they wake up in each other's bodies and bumble through each other's daily routines. Soon, they realize that the dreams are real, and they're actually swapping bodies! Through living each other's lives, Taki and Mitsuha begin to form a close bond. Then one day, just as suddenly as it started, the body swapping stops. Taki sets out to find Mitsuha and uncovers the stunning truth behind their fateful encounter.

The animated feature film 'Your Name' tells of two teenagers with seemingly nothing in common who suddenly, startlingly, find that they are connected in a way both find hard to believe. City boy Taki is a high school student in Tokyo, while Mitsuha is a small town girl. Both experience strange dreams in which they seem to be inhabiting the body of a teen of the opposite sex.

Slowly, Taki and Mitsuha come to realize that the dreams aren't really dreams at all. Every few days, when they fall asleep, they wake up to find themselves inhabiting each other's body. Their friends wonder what is up with them as, on the days of the switches, Taki and Mitsuha struggle to know how to act in this other person's life.

One day the switches stop. Taki is curious to understand what happened, why it has stopped happening, and what has become of Mitsuha, whose life he had come to know so well. Taki goes in search of Mitsuha and makes a fateful discovery.

'Your Name' builds interesting and distinctive characters and tells its complex story well. If one tried to analyze the film's story in detail, I'm not confident that it all adds up, but 'Your Name' is such a charmer that I don't want to analyze it. I just want to appreciate it. Highly recommended.
