1. 10cm – What The Spring??
10cm's chill and rhythmical 2016 song "What The Spring??" comes into the spring picture a bit differently with lyrics throwing bitter words at lovey-dovey couples who are enjoying the season so much. Kwon Jeong Yeol uses his sweet, unique tone to mischievously represent the perspective of every lonely single who is sick of seeing lovers having fun: "Do you love spring so, you stupid? Do you find cherry blossoms pretty, you stupid? Flowers all fall down at last, just like you two will fall apart soon."
2. Bolbbalgan4 – Bom
"Flower, sunshine, on a perfect day. Actually if I can walk with you, how great would it be?" The title track of Bolbbalgan4's first Puberty Book album, Bom is dedicated to young people who are experiencing love. The song title is a play on words meaning both "a spring only for me" and "only look at me." Ahn Ji Young writes and sings in a refreshing and cozy way about the wildest wishes of those too nervous to confess their feelings. Who needs cherry blossoms when your crush is with you? It's springtime whenever you appear… in my dreams!
3. BTOB – Remember That
BTOB is known for their touching hit ballads, and the title song of their eighth mini-album Remember That gently ushers in the arrival of spring after the cold season. The song recalls streaming tears and melancholic memories with a light melody and impeccable harmonization. Remember that spring…
4. BTS – Spring Day
BTS has given us so many global hits in recent years, but for many, the group's most beautiful and iconic song may always be "Spring Day." Released in 2017 on the You Never Walk Alone album, this moving, stripped-down song speaks to the heart about loss, grief and longing for the spring that ends the cold of winter. The lyrical song introduced the softer, sentimental side of BTS to general audiences in Korea – not to mention their staying power on the charts.
5. Busker Busker – Cherry Blossom Ending
You know it's springtime when "Cherry Blossom Ending" starts climbing back up the charts. Busker Busker's 2012 megahit from the band's first album is pretty much Korea's unofficial theme song for spring. The mellow, folksy and relaxing number flutters your heart with the image of walking hand in hand down a street as cherry blossom petals scatter around in the spring breeze.
6. Eric Nam & Wendy – Spring Love
Eric Nam and Red Velvet member Wendy's mid-tempo acoustic duet captures two friends escalating their relationship into romance. The two powerful vocalists weave a heartwarming "Spring Love" with their sweet voices in the SM Station single, which conveys the feeling of being all aflutter and enjoying endearing moments that remind of spring.
7. HIGH4 & IU – Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossom
This 2014 collaboration between IU and short-lived boy band HIGH4 oozes the sweet and refreshing feeling of spring – even though the lyrics are griping about being single during this season of love. The playful song complains about the sudden shift from the winter to a lovey-dovey spring where "Everyone but me is in love, singing spring songs." Not only that, they may be singing this spring song.
8. I.O.I – When the Cherry Blossoms Fade
Back in 2016, B1A4's Jin Young gifted the Produce 101 girls When the Cherry Blossoms Fade as a special finale single to wrap up the program beautifully. The dreamy tune was later recorded in an 11-member version, included in I.O.I's first mini-album Chrysalis, to commemorate their journey on the program and to express the hope of heading toward a better future even when the cherry blossoms fade.
9. Jang Beom June – Spring Rain
After leaving Busker Busker, Jang Beom June continued to make music that hits you in the feels as a solo artist. "Spring Rain" from his 2016 album lets the spring rain call up memories of that day, that person, that love, which has passed us by. Carried by pleasing guitar and piano chords, the song is gentle yet piercing as Jang's soothing voice evokes the aching of the heart when "the spring rain of that day falls."
10. K.Will – Love Blossom
One of K.Will's signature hits, Love Blossom from the singer's third album in 2013 is still everyone's go-to when curating a spring playlist. Along with the portrayal of a blooming romance by Infinite's L and Sistar's Da Som in the music video, Love Blossom's heart-fluttering melody, lyrics and vocals make you picture petals dancing and flying high like popcorn when love is in the air.
11. Laboum – Journey to Atlantis
Go on a "Journey to Atlantis" for a sweet escape in Laboum's best hit! The upbeat synth-pop plug fantasizes about a heart-pounding getaway to utopia with its perfectly cheery melody and lyrics. "I want to fly to the imaginary world, ride the wind. The new twinkles make my heart boom, boom, boom. Oh I found it, our paradise." Let's go on a Fresh Adventure full of optimistic vibes and vitality!
12. Loco & Yu Ju – Spring is Gone by Chance
"Spring is Gone by Chance" is the theme song of The Girl Who Sees Smells, the SBS webtoon-turned-drama aired in spring 2015 that portrays a budding romance between two people with unique senses. With GFRIEND Yu Ju's clear, powerful high notes and Loco's rhythmical rap, the duet gives you butterflies about the mood of love that appears out of the blue.
13. Oh My Girl – The Fifth Season
Oh My Girl introduces the fairytale-like The Fifth Season through this ethereal, emotional and conceptual title song. Spring, summer, fall, winter, then love – a season where we fall in love at first sight and get flustered just from hearing a name. Though it's not specifically indicated as a spring song, "The Fifth Season" gives off a dreamy, spring-like aura with its feelings of blossoming love delived in the girls' sweet, velvety voices.
14. Sung Si Kyung – You Are My Spring
Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won's Secret Garden was not only successful for its fantastic plot, but also its memorable soundtrack of emotional songs – and one of them is the chart-topper You Are My Spring. Sung Si Kyung warms hearts with his tender voice, calmly and gently singing about an unrequited love in a tranquil ambience. Soft and sentimental, it's the perfect song to wrap up your day in this lovely season.
15. Wanna One – Spring Breeze
"See you again when the spring breeze passes me by..." Wanna One's limited time together is much like spring – a bright, warm and pure memory of the best days of youth. This powerful yet mellow bop from the group's last album release 1¹¹=1 (Power of Destiny) expresses love, longing, regrets, gratitude and hope all in one for the season of both ending and beginning.
