Another two years have passed, and finally a new BLACKPINK album has arrived! In BLACKPINK's second full-length album BORN PINK, the girls share their sensitive and sentimental thoughts in more dauntless lyrics (three of the eight new songs are marked explicit).

BORN PINK opens with the group's signature and charismatic hip-hop style jams. Serving as the group's first release in two years, the multi-genre pre-release single Pink Venom (Track 1) is creative yet slightly underwhelming as it's not as resonant as expected, but the song's charting proves that public reception is still good. Title track Shut Down (Track 2) combines classical music – sampling of Niccolò Paganini's La Campanella – with intense hip-hop sounds to create musical synergy that unleashes the group's classy, chic and savage vibe. They confidently assert that they are the Typa Girl (Track 3) of our dreams in the stylish and catchy English track: "'Cause I'm that girl that drives you crazy, but you can't leave me alone. Got you thinkin' maybe I went supernatural. Put you under spells or look into a crystal ball. I'm not like these other girls at all."

After three powerful anthems, the BLACKPINK members show their soft sides with silky vocals and easy-listening melodies. Ji Soo and Rosé took part in writing lyrics for the sweet 80s-style retro-pop jam Yeah Yeah Yeah (Track 4). Rosé delicately sings about sensitive and insecure hearts in her disco pop solo English single Hard To Love (Track 5). They pretend everything's fine in the somber ballad The Happiest Girl (Track 6): "But tonight I'll be the happiest girl in the world. You'll see like it doesn’t matter." They go free-spirited, forthright and aggressive in Tally (Track 7), which lyrically and musically radiates the same energy as You Never Know from THE ALBUM. Finally, the lovesick girls tell their crush that they are Ready For Love (Track 8) again in the dynamic closing track.

While BLACKPINK's first regular album THE ALBUM showcases more of the wild and fierce "black" sides of the girls, their second full-length album BORN PINK comes in a velvety "pink" tone with more dulcet, emotional tunes that string along tender hearts. And now the wait for the next release begins again…
