TOP 10 TV DRAMAS (OVERALL)

KOREAN TV BESTSELLERS

As the most talked about Korean drama of 2016, Descendants of the Sun was also fittingly our highest-selling drama of the year. 2015 and 2014's enduringly popular top sellers, Healer and You Who Came From the Stars, followed in second and third place. Song Joong Ki's popularity brought his 2012 drama Innocent Man back into the top ten, and Kim Soo Hyun also has two on the chart with The Producers at #9. Even though Ahn Jae Hyun and Ku Hye Sun's romance-sealing vampire drama Blood has yet to come out on video, its making-of DVD managed to come in fourth.

CHINESE TV BESTSELLERS

Bromance prevailed in Chinese dramas with Baron Chen and Megan Lai's gender-bending Taiwan idol drama coming in first, followed by the hot-topic China gay youth romance Addicted. Mainland hits occupy over half the chart including 2015's top-selling Chinese drama The Empress of China, The Journey of Flower, Nirvana in Fire and both Startling By Each Step and its sequel. TVB classics Summer Kisses Winter Tears and The Breaking Point, which were released on DVD for the first time in 2016, round out the top ten.

JAPANESE TV BESTSELLERS

The live-action Attack on Titan films were the best-selling Japanese movies of 2016, and dTV's Hangeki no Noroshi, a three-episode spinoff about the films' supporting characters, also came in first for Japanese dramas. Aka Medaka, a rakugo special drama starring Kitano Takeshi and Ninomiya Kazunari, ranked second, and the old Arashi variety show CxDxG no Arashi! appeared on the chart for yet another year. As a fan favorite and the rare J-Drama with English subtitles, the Itazura na Kiss series charted for the fourth consecutive year, claiming three spots in the top ten.
