2019 Billboard Music Awards Top Group winner – and YesAsia's top seller for the past three years – BTS dominates again as the #1 bestseller in the first half of the year with Map of The Soul: Persona. With their growing global popularity, Monsta X and BLACKPINK also secure positions on the K-pop chart alongside Twice and Seventeen. Fast-rising rookies Stray Kids and Loona foray into the chart at #2 and #3, while Dreamcatcher and GFriend successfully break into the top ten albums for the first time. Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, Arashi affirms their status as the kings of J-pop with their best-of album, which is #1 on our chart and sold over 1.3 million copies in Japan. Meanwhile, Korean-Japanese super rookie group IZ*ONE makes a strong debut at #5 with their first single. K-pop idols take the remaining eight spots of the Japanese music bestsellers chart, with NCT 127's first album and Seventeen's first single coming in second and third. BEST-SELLING C-POP RELEASES
Perennial bestseller Sammi Cheng effortlessly tops the C-pop chart with her Sammi By My Side Birthday Gig Live concert. Taiwan diva Jolin Tsai takes the #2 spot with Ugly Beauty, which was recently recognized as Album of the Year at the 30th Golden Melody Awards. Hong Kong singers, including familiar names like Eason Chan, Hins Cheung, G.E.M., Vivian Chow and Alan Tam, handily dominate the majority of the chart. Juno Mak and Kay Tse's hit collaboration the album part one comes in at #8, while Hana Kuk debuts at #6 with her 2018 album. The late Danny Chan also makes an appearance with an album boxset.1. BEST-SELLING MOVIES
The Donnie Yen-less Ip Man spin-off Master Z starring Zhang Jin is the best-selling movie for the first half of the year, while Donnie Yen himself settles for two films in the top ten. Felix Chong's Hong Kong Film Awards winner Project Gutenberg follows in second place. Zhang Yimou reclaims his favor among film fans with his wuxia masterpiece Shadow at #5, and Hong Kong cinema nostalgia elevates Young and Dangerous reunion fest Golden Job and Jackie Chan's Super Cop Blu-ray to the top ten. Romcom classic My Sassy Girl is the sole Korean representative on the chart at #9, thanks to its long-coveted Blu-ray release. Indie filmmaker Scud continues to be the wild card with his latest queer art film cracking into the top ten, but the biggest surprise is Lost in the Fumes – the documentary about jailed Hong Kong activist Edward Leung edges its way to #3 in these politically charged times.1. BEST-SELLING TV DRAMAS
It may be 2019 already, but the best-selling TV dramas at the half-year mark are actually the same three titles as 2018's first-half bestsellers. This time, Chinese period fantasy Eternal Love takes the lead over K-Dramas Goblin and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Two other 2018 top sellers, Legend of Fuyao and While You Were Sleeping, have also stuck around. Among newer releases, EXO members prove their popularity with 100 Days My Prince starring D.O. and Rich Man starring Su Ho coming in fourth and fifth. Lee Seung Gi's post-army comeback drama A Korean Odyssey and Zhou Xun's TV comeback Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace also make the top ten cut.1. Eternal Love | 2. Goblin | 3.
