洋蔥頭 (任賢齊 飾) 十歲時因腦膜炎而變成又盲又啞的少年。他住進醫院，一邊在醫院工作一邊接受眼科醫療實驗。性格樂觀的他，連治療他的醫生護士都成為他的好朋友。護士秋男 (張柏芝 飾) 亦視洋蔥頭為知己常與他分享喜與悲。秋男覺得洋蔥頭是安全的傾訴對象，只是洋蔥頭卻希望有一天可以將這知己變為情人。某夜，流星劃過，洋蔥頭終鼓起勇氣向秋男表白，惜醫院來電，要秋男趕回緊急工作，臨行時秋男要求洋蔥頭等她放工一句話，但就在洋蔥頭橫過馬路之際被汽車撞倒。洋蔥頭醒來時已進入另一空間，原來已死去並正等候往北極星開展另一新生。洋蔥頭悲從中來，將自己短速一生的委屈盡情傾吐，天使也為之動容，特准他重回人間五天，將未完心事了結。在流星雨出現的晚上，洋蔥頭知道自己快要離去，決定了要跟秋男轟烈的愛一次......
