Based on director Judy Chu's own life, the moving Hong Kong drama Sunshine of My Life relays the struggles and experiences of the blind and their families. Karena Ng (Wong Ka Yan) plays the daughter of blind parents portrayed by Kara Hui and Hugo Ng.
As a child, Yan Yan (Karena Ng) didn't know the sufferings of the world and passed her days happily with her parents who are both blind. However, as she grows up, she realizes that her family is different. The stares of strangers and the responsibility of caring for her parents feel increasingly suffocating to Yan Yan. She begins to think of leaving home to live on her own.
