Maeda Tetsu (And the Baton Was Passed) directs the blockbuster film 90 Years Old - So What? based on the highly popular essays and experiences of best-selling nonagenarian author Sato Aiko. Legendary actress Kusabue Mitsuko, who is also in her 90s, stars as Sato Aiko, a 90-year-old author who spends her days blankly after retiring from writing. She doesn't share her lonely feelings with her daughter and granddaughter. Meanwhile, middle-aged editor Yoshikawa Shinya (Karasawa Toshiaki) is in trouble at work after his old-fashioned style of communication comes under scrutiny as harassment. Things are just as bad at home because his wife and daughter have also lost patience with him. One day, a project for an essay column comes up in the editorial department, and Yoshikawa convinces Aiko to write, with him as the editor in charge, opening up a new path for both of them.
