YesAsia Editorial Description

Based on a popular comic book from the creator of The Storm Riders, Ma Wing Shing, A Man Called Hero is a stirring martial arts fantasy with state-of-the-art special effects! Young and Dangerous actor Ekin Cheng stars as Hero, an early-20th century Chinese warrior who wields a legendary glowing blade called the "Blood Sword". Born under the Star of Death, Hero is cursed with hurting those close to him, and must tragically remain alone. Long missing, he returns to action when his son (Nicholas Tse) is threatened, and righteously takes on the bad guys with the deadly Blood Sword! But also returning is his eternal nemesis, Invincible (Francis Ng), a blind swordsman who challenges Hero to an amazing blowout duel on the Statue of Liberty!

Featuring impressive visual effects from Centro Digital Pictures (Shaolin Soccer), A Man Called Hero is an epic tale mixing martial arts fantasy with actual Chinese history. Hero's journey takes him from China to America, as he follows the paths of the Chinese immigrant workers who came to the US to make their fortunes. Andrew Lau (The Storm Riders) directs, and the impressive cast includes Shu Qi, Kristy Yang, Yuen Biao, Anthony Wong, Sam Lee, Mark Cheng, Elvis Tsui, Ken Lo Wai Kwong, and even Shaw Brothers kung-fu princess Cheng Pei Pei! Visually stunning and dramatically sound, A Man Called Hero entertains and amazes with its combination of earnest history, martial arts fantasy, and tragic, larger-than-life heroics!

this movie is ok Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I got this movie at a used DVD place and just gave it a try because I like Shu Qi.
I was kind of happy to see part of the lives of people in America and I thought it would mean more. I think the movie is better than I thought but not as great as your all say.
I think Nicholas Tse and Shu Qi both are good actors but the other two are so so only, esp the wife. She is a pretty good but I would say she is not in the same class of actress as Shu Qi
