Pang Ho Cheung produces the offbeat romance A Nail Clipper Romance, the directorial debut of cinematographer James Kwan, who previously worked on Pang's films as well as Cold War and Helios. Set in Hawaii, the quirky film stars Taiwan actor Joseph Chang (Sky on Fire) and Golden Horse-winning actress Zhou Dongyu (Soul Mate) as an amateur surfer and his capricious girlfriend who declares that she only eats nail clippers. Comedy regulars Na Dow (Godspeed) and Hsieh Yi Lin (Tiny Times) co-star as the protagonist's friends while Tiffany Hsu (The Tag-Along) and Ekin Cheng make special appearances. Based on a short story from Pang's 2009 book Trivial Matters, A Nail Clipper Romance explores the theme of trust in relationships. If you love someone, should you believe everything they say, no matter how preposterous?

Sean (Joseph Chang) is down in the dumps and distrusting of love after getting cheated on by his last girlfriend. Then one day, a strange girl comes storming into his life. Vivacious tattoo artist Emily (Zhou Dongyu) seems to always be full of energy and ideas, and Sean can't help getting swept away by her lovable and unpredictable personality. After they start dating, Emily confides to Sean that she is actually a "nail clipper monster." Since a young age, she has lived on a diet of nail clippers, and her dream is to open a nail clipper restaurant for all the other people like her.
