My primary issue, with this film, apart, from its gross techinical incompetence, would have to be the treatment of Evangelion's as inanimate, cold, lifeless, grotesque machines, when, in the original series, they were these joyful giant toys, whose armor's plastic sheen, one coud practically slide off, with bodies that were well-proportioned, and, not hideously distended, like their pilots are in this movie series.
According to "Rei Ayanami", "An Eva is a mirror that reflects your heart," whereas in the original series, they were living creatures, with the soul's of their pilots' respective mother's, inside of the humanoid robots, protecting their pilots. Maybe, that all was not true, but in any event, one could say that the pilots' mothers protected their children, inside the Eva. Here, one shifts that onus of protecting themselves, and the entire world, onto, incompetent, ill-tempered, dysfunctionally-and-highly autistic, mean-spirited, ugly-looking children. Maybe, they were always that way, but our original director had a certain way of bringing out the best in his subjects.
The original Eva pilots were stars, and, these kids are turds. Make of that what you will, but it all goes for a generally unpleasant movie-watching experience, through and through. I would stay away, from this, unless you want to flagellate yourself, as a fan of the original series. This is truly a film, worthy of the dwarf island Japan and the third-rate, sweatshop animation house that is Studio Khara. Yuck.
HIS & HER CIRCUMSTANCES: COLLECTION (5PC)(US Version)November 26, 2021 Love in the Afternoon
There are lots of cool things, about this show, that one could easily, overlook. It has beautiful music. Its color scheme is subdued, and, relaxing. The voice acting is flawless. The characters all love and support, each other, and, are nice to one another. There are lots of brilliant characters that dance, around the screen, be they Kanji characters or, actual, people. You can feel the electric whizzing of city streets, on a bike, as you ride on by, or the hum and excitement of an early-summer morning, in the city, when you are waiting to meet friends. The way lights glow on avenues and boulevards, at night, really sticks out. Love, lust, jealousy, anger, sadness, disgust, vanity, insecurity, bitterness, and hatred, all receive equal treatment, in the same way that city streets, school hallways, gyms, patios, cherry trees, bus-stops, river-sides, and ancestral estates do. Characters deal, with their emotions and circumstances, and insecurities, with the same stoic resolve, and tension, that being a teenager in high school, really, demands.
Ambition and drive, tension and hatred, love and insecurity are all, at the forefront of this show, along, with moments of peace, and friendship, joy, sadness, and anger. Everyone is, at once, alone, and completely dependent, on one another, which is what friendship is all about, romance being the natural evolution of the latter. You learn about the meaning of family, the meaning of lust, the meaning of love, and relationships, through this show. You learn about society, in a different way, and you learn to give pause to life, as you wander through this world, to sleep under cherry blossoms and to get caught in the rain, with your girlfriend. These are all really great emotions, and they rival, anything that Hideaki Anno has ever done, before, or since. In many ways, as a show, it captures my heart, in the same way that Evangelion did, when I first watched it, and it speaks to me, and my life, in a different manner, than I could have, ever, anticipated. This series really is a masterpiece, and you learn to let go, and deal with your demons, as you watch it, and identify, with the characters. Asapin, sure is cool! Sayonara!!!
Love and Pop (Aizo Edition) (Japan Version)November 26, 2021 The Best of Hideaki Anno's Films
If you were to ask me, which of the Hideaki Anno's films cuts to the heart of his oevure, it would be this one. It has everything, cute girls, short skirts, sex, brutality, innocence, beauty, love, hatred, wrath, and spitefulness, and a slew of other things that make up being a teenager, including semen. Force feed yourself this film, and you will derive, a lot of satisfaction, from it. The director is sadistic. The girls are really fun, one of them doesn't even wear a bra, for a good part of the film, and, another is well-endowed, posteriorly-speaking, while the girl, with the monkey on her back has the cutest voice, and, the men, here, are, positively, sinister, untrustworthy heathens. There is a slew of bonus content, as well, which is essential, for fans of the film. You get to see more girls, half-naked girls in bikinis, on the beach, and the drama of producing the film, itself.
Blood, sweat, laughter, and tears, make up the heart of this film, and, one could argue that that makes up the heart of Hideaki Anno's work, in a microcosm. It is his best film, because he will make you cry. You will wonder, why you never loved, again, after watching, this film, because you only, ever, really, loved Hiromi, and, if you, ever, gave your heart to someone, and, had it broken to pieces, then, you will identify, with this film. As Nasir Jones, would say, "Always forwards, I'm moving, never backwards," these girls will conquer the world, with their fluffy socks, and, are coming for you. They have, already, captured my heart, and, hopefully yours, too! Enjoy! I love you, all.

After, all is said and done, and, the aliens, from 5000 light-years, away, come to see the remnants of planet Earth, this show will stand eternal testament that humanity existed. To quote Chet Baker, "When my life is through/And, the angels ask me to recall/The thrill of them all/I shall tell them, I remember you!" I love this show. It is the greatest living tome, and work of art, in existence. Nothing, nothing will ever come close to reaching it, even if you take it, apart, and, put it, back, together, again, again, and again, with a million missing parts, it will, still, outlast and outlive us, all. It is the sole reason I am, even, alive, today, and, I'm glad to have watched it. Ride, on shooting Star! Evangelion INFINITY, forever! I love you, "Neon Genesis Evangelion"! And, to all the children in the world, "CONGRATULATIONS!"
