YesAsia Editorial Description

Director Gordon Chan brings us Armageddon, a taut supernatural thriller which threatens the end of the world - unless somebody can stop it. Superstar Andy Lau is Dr. Ken, a top scientist targeted by a mysterious cult known only as "The Brotherhood of Technology." The Brotherhood predicts the end of the world, and doubters to their claims are being exterminated in mysterious and even bizarre ways - and it looks like Dr. Ken may be next on their list. Dr. Ken is not a believer in the mystical or the spiritual, but he may have to change his thinking: not only could he hold the key to the Brotherhood of Technology's threatened end of the world, but his deceased girlfriend (gorgeous Michelle Reis) starts to reappear at unpredictable times. Can Dr. Ken crack the code and somehow reunite with his true love? Co-starring Anthony Wong as Dr. Ken's cop friend, Armageddon delivers tragic romance, hi-tech thrills, and intriguing supernatural suspense.

From acclaimed director Gordon Chan (Jet Li's Fist Of Legend) comes this imaginative, supematural thriller in the tradition of The Sixth Sense, Left Behind and The X Files. As the end of the millennium approaches, the world's top ten scientists are mysteriously incinerated one by one. As Ken (Andy Lau from The Duel), one of the surviving scientists, tries to solve the unsolvable, he is haunted by the reappearance of his dead finace Adele (Michelle Reis from Fallen Angels). boring and confuse Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
I didn't expect this movie is so boring and slow. the entire movie run in such a slow pace and I tried to stay put to the end to expect a surprise ending-but there is none! with such a bad script like this make you wonder the director himself must don't know how to end this movie as well. what a waste of time!

It's hard to say.... just.. boring!! The title is " Armageddon", but not as exiting as title says, I couldn't get whole story either... maybe I should watch it again... watching this movie once.. you wouldn't get the story.

You either like it or you don't Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This movie is different from the mainstream ones. There's a little bit mystery and sci fiction and romance. The story is full of intrigue and I am glued to the end. There's a little twist at the ending that's makes it a pleasant surprise.

a somewhat different film Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This movie was often compared in magazine reviews as an X-files type film. I remember seeing this vividly because I actually saw it a HK moviehouse when I was on vacation there. The sound was pretty good, especially during the jarring flashback quick-cut shot when Andy's character's girlfriend is hit by a bus. I also later found out that Anthony Wong's character's name was also a sexual pun, since cantonese is not first language. The story is different enough to keep you interested. It's sci-fi jargon may just be double talk, but aren't all films with a sci-fi angle do that. Andy's performance is subdued, but effective. That goes for Michelle Lee's too. Anthony Wong provides comic relief even when he's supposed to be Lucifer. The cinematography and locales are great to look at, such as Czech Republic in winter. Maybe if there was a little more action to pick up the pace it would have been better, although I don't know if that was point of the filmmakers to focus on drama, mystery and some Special Effects instead of action set pieces. Funny, talking about it now makes me want to see it again. Finally, if you're an Andy fan--it may not be his best but good to have for your collection.
