Produced by Hou Hsiao Hsien, the critical yet compassionate film stars popular actress Mini Yang (Brotherhood of Blades: The Infernal Battlefield) as a woman desperately trying to save a baby born with defects. Also co-starring Guo Jingfei (The Liquidator) and Lee Hong Chi (Thanatos Drunk), Baby sheds light on the plight of the disabled and the legal implications of parenthood and family in China.

Disabled young woman Jiang Meng (Mini Yang) heads to the city to earn money to support her elderly foster mother. At the hospital where she works as a cleaner, she encounters a baby girl with the same life-threatening congenital defect as her, and feels an instant connection. Faced with the prospect of multiple operations, the baby's father (Guo Jingfei) chooses to give up treatment. When Meng discovers the father's decision, she goes to increasing lengths to find and save the baby girl. In the process, her own difficult past comes to light.

殘疾女孩江萌（楊冪 飾）與年邁的養母相依為命，為了不讓養母流落養老院，江萌進城打工，沒想到在醫院碰到了與自己同病相憐的無肛女嬰，引起了江萌的憐愛。江萌發現，無肛女嬰的父親（郭京飛 飾）將她匆匆帶出醫院，意圖放棄治療。就在無肛女嬰生死存亡之際，江萌踏上了拯救生命的征程，到處打聽孩子的下落，在尋找的過程中，她自己的身世之謎也逐漸被揭開……
