Big Bang 2nd Mini Album - Hot Issue

Big Bang's #1 song "Lies" was a glorious achievement that boosted the group's career to a new high. Now gearing up for more conquests, Big Bang comes back with their second mini album Hot Issue. Standing right at the center of their success is the group's leader, G-Dragon. This talented 20-year-old first displayed his huge potential as a singer/songwriter for their debut album. In Hot Issue, G-Dragon explores his gift of creativity well beyond anyone's expectation by producing and writing the lyrics for all six of its tracks.

The principal track "Last Goodbye" (Track 6), written and composed by G-Dragon, offers a catchy blend of trance hip-hop beats and G-Dragon's unique refreshing melody and lyrics. The song also features a mix of powerful raps by G-Dragon and T.O.P and melodic vocals from Tae Yang and Dae Sung. Another track that shows promising signs of becoming a hit is CRAZY DOG (Track 5) which features distinctive synthesizer sounds and sampling from Seo Tai Ji & Boys' signature hit "In My Fantasy." CRAZY DOG is poised to appeal to both the older generation of Seo Tai Ji & Boys fans and the younger generation of Big Bang enthusiasts. Other highlights include the Shibuya-kei-style "A Fool" (Track 2) and the slow mid-tempo I DON'T UNDERSTAND (Track 4) composed by G-Dragon in collaboration with S-Kush of Stony Skunk. 2007년 하반기 <거짓말>로 가요계 최고의 이슈가 된 빅뱅. 그 여운이 채 가시기도 전에 두 번째 미니앨범 [Hot Issue]로 더욱 강력한 폭발을 예고한다. 그 중심에는 20살 어린 나이에 싱어송라이터로 인정받은 빅뱅의 리더 지드래곤(G-Dragon)이 있다. 첫 번째 싱글에 수록된 를 선보였을 때부터 싱어송라이터로 가능성을 선보인 지드래곤은 이후 빅뱅의 모든 앨범에 작곡, 작사가로 적극적으로 참여해왔다. 그리고 데뷔 1년 만에 <거짓말>이라는 히트곡을 선보이며 명실상부 히트 작곡가 반열에 당당히 이름을 올려놨다. 이번 두 번째 미니앨범에서 더욱 왕성한 창작욕을 보인 지드래곤은 앨범에 실린 총 6곡 중 5곡에 작곡가로 이름을 올렸을 뿐만 아니라 전곡의 작사와 프로듀서를 맡았다. 타이틀곡 <마지막 인사> 역시 지드래곤이 작사, 작곡한 곡으로 한 번만 들어도 금세 중독되어 버릴 만큼 강한 비트의 트랜스힙합리듬 위에 지드래곤 특유의 신선한 멜로디, 가사가 잘 혼합된 곡이다. 지드래곤과 탑(T.O.P), 두 래퍼의 파워풀한 랩과 태양, 대성, 승리의 보컬이 어우러져 폭발적인 에너지를 느끼게 만든다.

[Hot Issue]에는 <마지막 인사>외에도 메가 히트를 예고하는 곡들이 여러 곡 실렸다. 가장 눈에 띄는 곡은 가요계의 전설 서태지와 아이들의 <환상 속의 그대>를 샘플링한 . 신디사이저음이 인상적인 <환상 속의 그대> 도입부를 샘플링해 빅뱅만의 스타일로 소화해 낸 이 곡은 15년이라는 세대차이를 훌쩍 뛰어넘어, 빅뱅의 음악을 좋아하는 이들뿐만 아니라 서태지와 아이들을 그리워하는 이들에게 크게 어필할 것으로 보인다. <바보>는 <마지막 인사>와 함께 타이틀 후보로 거론됐던 곡. 시부야케이 스타일을 도입, 가요계에 큰 반향을 일으켰던 <거짓말>의 연장선 격인 곡으로, 역시 피아노를 베이스로 하여 더욱 고급스럽고 세련되진 편곡이 돋보인다. 이외에도 [Hot Issue]에는 스토니스컹크의 에스쿠시(S-kush)와 지드래곤이 공동 작곡한 지드래곤 솔로 곡 , 슬로우 미디엄 템포의 'I don’t understand' 등 한 곡 한 곡 수준이상의 퀄리티를 자랑하고 있다. 올 겨울 <거짓말>에 이어 다시 한 번 가요계를 흔들어 놓을 빅뱅의 두 번째 미니앨범 [Hot Issue]는 오는 11월 23일 전격 공개된다.
