YesAsia Editorial Description

From the wild imagination of Tsui Hark comes Black Mask 2, the long-awaited sequel to the hit 1996 action blockbuster. Tsui, who served as producer on the first film, takes over as director. Meanwhile, replacing Jet Li in the role of the masked superhero is Chinese-American actor Andy On, who displays amazing physical prowess in his first starring role. For the sequel, Tsui shifts the story's setting from contemporary Hong Kong to a fictional futuristic city, allowing him to unleash his splendid vision of a comic book fantasy filled with the inventive action sequences (co-choreographed by the legendary Yuen Woo Ping) and breathtaking visuals he's known for. Originally shot in English, the Hong Kong Cantonese-language version of Black Mask 2 features an all-star voice cast led by Andy Lau, Jordan Chan, Cecilia Cheung, Louis Koo, and Lau Ching Wan.

In a narrative departure from the first film, Black Mask (Andy On) is now in City B on the run from Zeus, the organization whose genetic experiments on him created his superpowers. However, he still manages to find time to save the day, helping one day in putting away a wrestler damaged by genetic experiments that blend human and animal traits into a potentially powerful package. Black Mask's heroic act catches the attention of the experiment's evil researcher Moloch, who manages to inject the superhero with a Cheetah formula. As Black Mask tries to cure himself of the dangerous drug, Zeus has sent their latest weapon Lang to capture him alive.

Tsui Hark's worst Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
It's painful to just knowing this is from Tsui Hark, he's a legendary director to me. Well, the problem, perhaps, its so pretencious trying to be a hollywood style movie, it's very apparent Hark's trying to experiment something to fit the taste of west audience. The rubber monsters, the slimy liquid, wrestlers, mutants e.g. But you can also tell he has absolutely no interest of these things, so the fact is no matter how skillfull you are, if you dun have faith on whatever ur working on, it just wont come out any good. I feel painful to give out 1 star on Tsui Hark's work ;(

Poor attempt Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
This film simply isn't good. I mean, it's really, really bad. The action is shoddy and the script is a joke. Watching the dub is terrible. I'd say the worse movie ever from HK, but this doesn't qualify, because I never got around to finish this. That title belongs to Dragon Loaded 2003.

very bad Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
i bought the vcd with "love for all seasons". i thought that it was quite cheap, so why not also take black mask 2. but i really regret now! ok, there was a lot of action, which was quite good. the problem was they looked so fake when they changed into monsters. just as if they put a mask on their haed and then that's it! i must admit that andy on looked very good and the leading actress too. they made a good couple. trust me, don't buy it!

why did jet li do these films? Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
I am a huge Jet Li fan, but it took about three viewings just to get through Black Mask. Jet Li sleep walks his way through the whole thing, in an attempt to look like he had no feelings.
