導演︰珠璣

　　漢成帝微服邂逅慧清，對她一見鍾情，召入宮廷，封為王后，後誕下太子。時太后專政，恐太子將來繼位，失去權勢，於是命王統領暗殺太子。此事被王妻即慧清的繼母知道，她不值丈夫所為，暗中把親兒與太子對換，然後抱太子離宮。王統領為求自保，誣害慧清與御醫有私情，成帝懦弱，事未查明，竟任由太后囚禁慧清。其後太后知慧清鼓勵成帝奪回大權，便要她投河自盡。慧清因熟水性，投河不死。十六年後，繼母把太子撫育成人。某日慧清與繼母相遇，說明一切，與親兒相認，並打算一起重返宮廷與成帝團聚。其時，正值外戚作亂，幸得已痛改前非的王統領，為將功贖罪，領兵救駕，助成帝剷除叛賊，重掌政權。成帝亦得以一家團聚。

My first review posted for this movie was meant for another title - " The Unroyal Prince"! Big oops!
Anyway, this movie itself has a good story line with romance, sacrifice, evil plots etc to make up the usual recipe of an intriguing chinese opera. Nice.

Great movie with excellent story and performances from the entire cast. A young Connie Chan, playing a 12 year old love-child of the emperor, practically stole most of the scenes in the movie with her exuberance and fine acting skills! Yam was fantastic in her role portraying a somewhat weak crowned prince to an emperor who was very much controlled by the dowagers, mandarins and consort but moments of authoritative power exerted was a sight to behold! Colour was a little weird at the beginning of movie and some parts were abruptly cut off but overall it's a fairly good quality film in consideration of it's age. This is another must-see of Yam's movie list.
