- What is Blu-ray?
Blu-ray, or Blu-ray disc (BD), is a next-generation, high-definition optical disc format developed to replace the current DVD. It accommodates the needs and functions of high-definition (HD) video, including recording, rewriting, and playback. It can store up to 25GB on a single layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. A 50GB disc can hold over 9 hours of HD video and over 23 hours of standard video.
