HD DVD, previously called AOD, is a next-generation, high-definition optical disc format developed to replace the current DVD. It accommodates the needs and functions of high-definition video, including recording, rewriting, and playback. It can store up to 15GB on a single layer disc, 30GB on a dual-layer disc, and 45GB on a triple layer disc.
