Singer-actress Nishiuchi Mariya steps into the famous boots of Cutie Honey in the 2016 live-action adaptation of Nagai Go's classic manga series. Directed by A.T., sci-fi action fantasy Cutie Honey: Tears reboots the origin story of the android superheroine. In the near future, the world is determined by AI, and society is highly stratified between the rich and the poor. While the wealthy live in reckless comfort in the upper levels, the poor below are exposed to dangerous polluted rain. One day, an android falls from the upper levels to a lower level. Scientist Kisaragi (Iwaki Koichi) transplants his daughter's memories into the android, and creates Kisaragi Honey (Nishiuchi Mariya). Possessing the emotions of a human and the powers of an android, Kisaragi Honey rises to protect the world from danger.
