　　清朝末年，局勢動蕩，耀武揚威的日本浪人，穿棉旗袍的中國婦女，披毛織大披肩的白俄“瑪達姆”，戴白毛耳包的禿頂猶太商賈……熙熙攘攘的人群中突然來了幾名高大而兇悍的馬賊，他們喬粧打扮，混進了一家唱片店內，綁架了副都統的女兒——美如天人，冰清玉潔的陸瓔。

　　陸瓔被馬賊關進山裏的秧子房，原來馬賊的大當家與陸家有著兩代世仇。大當家指派陳九的父母看管陸瓔，又給陸家送信，要陸家七日內交出皇帝御賜的紫貂皮馬褂，否則就撕票。然而期限臨近，陸家那邊卻絲毫沒有贖人的動靜，陳九不忍美貌的陸瓔被殺，將其救出，兩人趁夜冒著夭雪逃走。大當家得知此事，一怒之下，將陳九的父母綁在樹上，潑上水，活活凍成冰砣。

　　陳九與陸瓔傳奇般的結合，讓陳九走出封閉的大山，闖入商埠城市哈爾濱。在這裡身無羈絆的陳九如魚得水，表現出強大的進取能力，創造了一個又一個的奇跡，成就了他的毛皮商號“宏發祥”。但這種人生角色的轉換中帶著原始的血性，陳九在商場角逐中常常流露出躁動，讓世人側目，也給他的成功埋下了無形的隱患。商場如戰場，他的卑微出身和性格的局限，讓他飽經磨難，陳九與陸瓔先天不足的結合，也埋下了他們婚姻不幸的種子。傳統文化熏陶下的官府小姐陸瓔，與陳九的世界格格不入，在寂寞中陸瓔又陷入“宏發祥”賬房沈中和日本商人莊本設下的陷阱，成了物欲橫流之下商場歷練的陳九，最終融入社會發展的軌道，面對同行的暗算和情感的波折，陳九重新凝聚力量，從容應對，挫敗日商的陰謀，懲罰了暗算的對手。但是隨著日本軍國主義的入侵，彻底顛覆了商場的遊戲規則，陳九又屢遭明爭暗算，多次受挫，但最終並沒有打垮這位從山里走出來的血性漢子……

Not Tightly Knit Series Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Good man lead,but a victim of not well-written screenplay. Many improbable situations,difficult to believe. Dialogs mostly long and stretched out. Compared to a well-written and well acted recent series "Our Team Aim the Sun"(starring the same male lead),this series commands lots of fastforwards.
