Product Information
Director: Fung Fung
Although Ching Lai-man, a courtesan of renowned beauty, has lost her sight, General Sung Man-wah proposes to her. Lai-man turns him down as she has a secret lover, Lau Yuk-lung, who is also blind. Instead, she urges Man-wah to marry her sister, Sin-man. Lai-man and Yuk-lung exchange a piece of jade and a gold hairpin to seal their engagement. Yuk-lung's brother, Yuk-fu, learns that the snow-lotus among the tribute to the palace can cure his brother and Lai-man's blindness. So, Yuk-fu steals the precious plant from the soldiers escorting it to the Emperor. Man-wah was supposed to be in charge of the escort and is therefore accused of dereliction of duty. He flees with his wife, Sin-man, Lai-man and their mother. Lai-man's blindness is cured by the snow-lotus but the family is getting poor. Man-wah robs and escapes, but Sin-man is arrested. At this time, Lord Ngai is looking for some beautiful women to bewilder the Emperor so that he can usurp the throne. He meets the pretty Lai-man and takes her as his goddaughter. Yuk-lung loses contact with Lai-man. His blindness cured, he is employed as an official and is judging Sin-man's case. He does not recognize Lai-man, now Princess Fung Ping, in court. King Ngai appreciates Yuk-lung's bravery and honesty and takes him as his follower. Yuk-fu now becomes a robber. While Man-wah is taking his boat, he tries to rob him. As Man-wah sees Yuk-fu with the hairpin that Lai-man gave to Yuk-lung, he thinks his brother is his sister-in-law's lover. When Yuk-fu meets Yuk-lung, he and Man-wah arrange for the young couple to meet again. Yuk-lung and Lai-man then realise that they have already talked and fought. At last, Yuk-lung has found evidence proving the betrayal of King Ngai, who is arrested. Lai-man is free again and she marries Yuk-lung.
