Soi Cheang's neo-noir action film Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In has lit up the Hong Kong box office with its blistering tale of crime, brotherhood and a bygone way of life in the notorious Kowloon Walled City in the 1980s. Based on the Hong Kong comic City of Darkness, the nostalgic gangland thriller stars Louis Koo, Sammo Hung, Richie Jen, Raymond Lam, Terrance Lau, Kenny Wong, Philip Ng, Tony Wu and German Cheung, as well as Aaron Kwok in a special appearance. Selected for the Midnight Screening section of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In has wowed audiences not only with its old-school turf war action but also its impressive set design and art direction. The film production notably constructed a stunning recreation of the dark and densely packed environs of the lawless quarters of the Walled City.

In 1980s Hong Kong, troubled youth Chan Lok Kwan (Raymond Lam) wanders into the Walled City and discovers that this lawless world actually has its own sense of order, rules and community. Lok Kwan befriends Shin (Terrance Lau), Twelfth Master (Tony Wu) and AV (German Cheung), and together the four follow Cyclone (Louis Koo), a martial arts master and leader inside the Walled City. When triad boss Mr. Big (Sammo Hung) tries to encroach into the Walled City, Lok Kwan and his brothers must fight with their all to defend their haven.

This edition comes with a bonus random postcard and special features including making-of, behind-the-scenes, Kowloon Walled City featurette, interview and trailers.

Wu Kang Ren disappears into the role of an undocumented deaf man in the acclaimed Malaysian neo-noir social drama Abang Adik. The Taiwan actor won Best Actor at the 60th Golden Horse Film Awards for his tour de force performance, and the film garnered seven nominations in total. The directorial debut of Ong Lay Jin who produced Shuttle Life and Miss Andy, Abang Adik follows the harrowing lives of two brothers, portrayed by Wu and Malaysian actor Jack Tan, who have been dealt a difficult hand since birth in a society that has no place for them.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, orphan brothers Abang (Wu Kang Ren) and Adik (Jack Tan) grew up without identification cards, so they do not exist in the eyes of the state. The two struggle to get by while living in a poor community where migrant workers gather. Older brother Abang, who is unable to hear or speak, works hard and just wants a stable life. Younger brother Adik engages in illegal activities to make money – all he wants is to take his brother away from this wretched place.
