Fear Of Intimacy VCD

Independent filmmaker Vincent Chui made his first feature film Leaving in Sorrow a few years ago, starring Shawn Yue who was not as famous back then, and in 2004 he finished another film Fear of Intimacy. The film appears to be a genre film yet its portrayal of a loving relationship encompasses a depth of feelings that is seldom found in mainstream movies. Though an independent production, its cast is never a weak one with award-winning Tony Leung Ka Fai, Michelle Saram from Skyline Cruisers, Taiwanese model-actress Stephenie Lim, and handsome new actor Cheung Wing Hong.

Fai (Tony Leung), once a successful photojournalist, now makes a living as a paparazzi to take pictures of celebrities and expose their scandals. A new photographer (Michelle Saram), admiring him, works with him in following a rich lady. The target's mysterious death draws them into investigation, in which Fai's memory of his girlfriend who vanished in the thin air 5 years ago keeps haunting him... The film was launched at the Hong Kong International Film Festival in early 2004 but its commercial release did not take place until 2005. Now the film is also available on DVD and VCD for those who have missed the theatrical release in Hong Kong. Also selected as a competition entry for the 26th Moscow International Film Festival and as the Closing Film for the 6th Taipei Film Festival.

　　眼前的人往往是最陌生的，以為在手的，其實都可以溜走。新聞攝影記者飛一心以為與女友小寶同居，就能留下她的心，可是一天小寶消失了……留下給飛的只有一幅照片和一段回憶。五年後，飛轉職狗仔隊，遇上了年輕跳脫的雪。

　　仰慕飛已久的雪，即使是偷拍，也樂意與飛一起行動。誰知一宗謀殺案竟與他們偷拍的照片有著千絲萬縷的關係。飛決定與雪深入追查，卻想不到揭發了自己不願面對的過去。

　　"Fear of Intimacy" is the story of Fai, a once successful photojournalist but now dwindled to snapping pictures of celebs and exposing their scandals as a paparazzo. Five years ago, Fai's lover Po left him without a word and vanished from his life, leaving him torn by old photos, pieces of memories of Po's disappearance.

　　In Fai's paparazzi assignments he begins to develop a relationship with his protege Michelle, a newcomer photographer who admires Fai's work and sees him as more than her mentor. When Fai's new photo subject, a rich lady is mysteriously found dead, Fai and Michelle is drawn into investigating the murder.

　　Fai never expects that the path will lead to his own haunted past with Po.
