A bizarre, elliptical, and touching exploration on the magic and madness of first love, First Love - The Litter on the Breeze is the debut feature film of offbeat actor/comedian Eric Kot Man Fai. Takeshi Kaneshiro stars as a silly garbage collector who falls hard and fast for a lovely sleepwalker (Lee Wai Wai) who never sees her constant companion and protector. Still love grows, but given the couple's decidedly odd lives, their romance is more misses than hits, and more bittersweet than passionate. Alternately, there's the tale of a grocer (Eric Kot), who abandoned his first love (Karen Mok) at the altar and married someone else. He even took the wedding ring and gave it to his current wife, but when his first love shows up, somebody will pay. Won't they?

At once impenetrable, self-referential, and subtly poetic, First Love - The Litter on the Breeze is a film that affects with unspoken lyricism and jarring cinematic flourishes. Aided by his producer (famed auteur Wong Kar Wai) and his cinematographer (renowned Australian cinematographer Christopher Doyle), Eric Kot paints a fascinating and dense picture of love, loss, and the weirdness that comes out of a guy trying to make a film about first love. Simultaneously not for everyone AND possessing something for everyone, First Love - The Litter on the Breeze is a weird and wonderful little movie.
