Directed by noted comedy screenwriter and radio host Lam Chiu Wing, Fooling Around Jiang Hu sends up Hong Kong triad movies and mythos in an over-the-top parody-laden gangster comedy where anything goes. Veteran pop star Alan Tam plays triad godfather Kim who maintains peace in the underworld through friendly relations and generous helpings of egg tarts. Jordan Chan of Young and Dangerous fame plays the loud and cocky Lung, a younger gang boss in the organization who believes the time has come for him to be the top dog. To entrap the elder statesman, Lung sends out his wife (Christine Ng) as lure, and Kim's past stories of thwarted love and dreams are gradually uncovered.

Fooling Around Jiang Hu troops out an eclectic collection of Hong Kong actors and personalities for its supporting cast and cameos including 80s TVB actress Jaime Chik in a rare screen appearance as Kim's former girlfriend, Babyjohn Choi and Jacky Cai as a young couple inspired by A Moment of Romance and With or Without You, and comedy regulars like Bob Lam, Nat Chan, Luk Wing, C Kwan and Lo Hoi Pang.

一齣江湖荒繆喜劇，由一個網台節目「喪盡江湖」開始主持人唱霸(阿Bob飾)在空中力數江湖大哥的恩怨情仇，也數盡大佬們的有趣逸了，節目廣受聽眾愛戴，也成為他們茶餘飯後必談話題﹗

「蛋撻」教金金銀倫(譚詠麟飾)，親善、人和、靚仔、只愛唱歌不愛做大佬，一向「以和為貴，穩定壓到一切」贏得叔父輩支持。同是有型有款的二佬龍山(陳小春飾)，自認是當大佬的天才，因為愛電影「古惑仔」的形象入行當起古惑仔。龍山嫂(伍詠薇飾)為了讓龍山一償心願當上龍頭大佬，不惜設下美人計，「情挑」金銀倫，套取他憑唱歌踏上龍頭之位的秘密，以及破壞他重遇舊情人陸玲(戚美珍飾)。

正謂「天若有情跟大佬」、「明月無憾照尖東」、社工明月(蔡潔飾)誓入江湖拯救古惑仔小東(蔡瀚億Baby John飾)，激發龍山和金銀倫的衝突。「江湖事、江湖了」在江湖的黑色漩渦中沒有人能擺脫「人在江湖、身不由己」的命運，最後，金銀倫唯有出招唱盡江湖，以唱對黑，以歌唱出另類江湖喜劇﹗
