Following 2012's Cold War, which won the pair Best Director and Best Screenwriter accolades at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards, Sunny Luk and Longman Leung return with another action-packed crime thriller in Helios. Bigger than the duo's debut film in every sense of the word, Helios features an international, all-star cast that includes Jacky Cheung (Temporary Family), Nick Cheung (That Demon Within), Chang Chen (The Last Supper), Ji Jin Hee (Parallel Life), Choi Si Won (Dragon Blade), Shawn Yue (As The Light Goes Out), Wang Xueqi (Bodyguards And Assassins) and Janice Man (The Midnight After).

The man known as Helios (Chang Chen) is already South Korea's most wanted, but his name gains pan-Asian infamy when he steals DC8, a portable weapon of mass destruction developed in secret by the South Korean military, and takes off to Hong Kong to set up a sale. Once alerted, the authorities of Hong Kong scramble to combat the sudden, unprecedented threat. Experts from various fields are assembled for an emergency task force: Counter-Terrorism Response Unit chief Lee Yin Ming (Nick Cheung), Chinese official Song An (Wang Xueqi), University of Hong Kong physics professor Siu Chi Yan (Jacky Cheung) and South Korean weapons specialists Choi Min Ho (Ji Jin Hee) and Park Woo Cheol (Choi Si Won). Featuring a mish-mash of personalities and agendas, the hastily formed coalition threatens to implode at any time, but the group must somehow find a way to work together to defuse one of the biggest threats the region has ever seen.

Product Information

Helios, a most wanted criminal in the global radar, has stolen the South Korean military's latest mass destruction weapon. An underground trading of the stolen weapon is due to take place tin Hong Kong. Chinese envoy Song An. Hong Kong's Counter Terrorism Response Unit Chiel Inspector Lee Ying-ming and South Korean wweapon expert Choi Min Ho are all gathered in Hong Kong on a mission to recover the weapon, the three regions' representatives are all armed with hidden agendas. Choi not only has to capture Helios and recover the weapon but needs to prevent the leaking of national classified information. Song has China's interests in mind. And on top of resolving the unit's biggest crisis since its conception. Lee and Siu have to grapple with the tension between the two countries. In the final showdown, no one is safe from the danger and conspiracies that lurk underneath.

 Leung and Luk steadily improving Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
With Helios, Longman Leung and Sunny Luk's second directorial effort, the pair has shown signs of steady improvement in creating entertaining thrillers. Cold War was a very respectful debut for them, but I think Helios proves to be just a little more entertaining. Chin Kar-Lok continues to show why he is one of the best action directors around. The cast is impressive, with Jacky Cheung and Janice Man being standouts. Like Cold War, the main flaw would be how the film ends, but in either case the ride was worth it. The directors are 2 for 2 so far, and I look forward to future projects from them. 4/5.
