November 25, 2005 Great acting!I liked this drama alot. Kim Sun A is such a fantastic actress, definately one of the best I've seen in drama. She seems so natural and true when she acts. She is able to put aside her pride to play the part of Kim Sam Soon perfectly. I also heard that she gained alot of weight for this drama.
Henry, a half korean guy, offers tons of comic relief. When you pair him with Kim Sam Soon, I was on the floor! Though he was funny, he cannot act very well, in my opinion. HeeJin is another really well played part, the actress shows alot of skill and you will grow very attached to her.
The main actor wasn't very impressive to me. Maybe it was just his character, I'm not sure. The story is good, and it really shows how much stress can be put on a woman in the hands of a confused man.
Highly recommend this!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Old Boy OST

November 4, 2005 Total MasterpieceThis OST is a perfect companion to the film, OLDBOY. The music on this cd is all very emotional, moody, and has a powerful atmosphere to it. I think its comparable to the OST to REQUIEM FOR A DREAM in its originality and power.
OLDBOY is one of the best modern works in the Film Noir genre and I thought it was only appropriate that all of the tracks on this OST are named after old Film Noir titles. My favorite track right now is "The Searchers." Amazing.
Purchase this, you will cherish it for a good long time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 6, 2005 Hot, fun Hip-Hop CDGreat CD. MC Mong has some pretty hardcore sounds, but keeps the feel light on alot of them. Wow, I was about to list my favorite tracks, but I should probably list the ones I liked the least. Ok, ready? Tracks 6 and 9. They are skits, and I don't fully understand Korean. Buhah, other than that, each and every song is really enjoyable, I think.
You can really feel the emotion in alot of his songs. Invincible MC Mong is a great song, but I think it would have been better without that "fart" sound in it. Also, I think "Mong's Party" would have been AMAZING with out the chorus of "booby booby." It leaves the English listeners thinking he's a little kid or something. Despite the criticism I give him, I honestly enjoy each song.
His rap is really smooth and flows great. His upbeat R&B songs are great. Usually I'm not a fan of rappers doing ballads, but I like them on this cd. "My Bro" is great, because its a chill R&B rap song and its not all about girls and bling [not really any of his songs are], but more about brotherly love. And being from the city of Brotherly Love, I think America could learn alot from this album. I also love how Korean rappers hit all styles on their CDs, another thing the American rap industry could learn from Korea.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
JEWELRY Vol. 4 - Super Star

September 6, 2005 Unexpectedly CatchyI need to admit, as a guy, I found myself a bit wierded out by the fact that a few songs on this album were so catchy to me. I heard the song "Superstar" and, in fact, Jewelry, for the first time when I visited Korea this summer.
Korea has this way of constantly playing one song over and over again, similar to America, in fact. The only songs I heard was "Superstar" and "Saranghetnabwa" by Yoon Do Hyun. As annoying as it was to hear "Superstar" over and over again, it is an extremely catchy song. I decided to pick up the CD and I think I can say that I was pleased with the album.
Some of the ballads are a bit boring, dry, and a bit too typical, in my opinion. The more upbeat songs I really enjoyed, though. "Superstar," "Twenty," "Liar," and "I'll be there," are some of my favorite tracks. "I'll be there" is a bit reminiscent of "This is your night," an American dance classic, but pretty original sounding.
All in all this album is a fun album that gives a good feel all throughout. The songs are hit or miss, in my opinion, but overall a good buy.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 6, 2005 About AverageEver since Miracle, I've been a pretty big BoA fan. I loved her upbeat, less-Western sounds. And even though people called her a Britney Spears wannabe, I thought her songs and her voice were very unique.
Not to say that all that does not hold true with this album, but it seems like she was trying to be something she isn't. Her songs, in my opinion, were a bit cluttered with noise and unnecessary rave hit sounds. Alot of her songs on this album sound reminicsent of "Hit Me Baby One More Time," by Britney Spears. I found myself enjoying similar artists like Jewelry, etc., a bit more than this CD. I miss the days of No.1 and Miracle. All in all, though, I suppose the album was alright. Not really for people looking for something new and original sounding, in my opinion. Everyone has their own flavors, though.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Lee Jung Hyun vol.5 - Passion

September 6, 2005 Fantastic FlavaWow, this is a stunning album.
Contrary to what some reviews said, which caused me to hold off buying this album, the cd is fantastic. After I purchased the cd, I regretted waiting on it.
This album is a seamless mixture of Latin music and Korean themes. The tracks "Besa me Mucho", "Ddarahehbwa" and "Domino" are some of my favorites. All the songs, consistant with Lee Jung Hyun's other work, will get you moving and are very smart with hints of trance and hiphop.
This cd is up there with her "Magic to go to my Star," arguably her best cd. I'm anxiously looking forward to another album from her.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
